Born in 1979 in Kolkata, Simrin currently lives and works in Milan, Italy and New Delhi, India. She has completed MFA & BFA in Painting, from College of Art, New Delhi, 1998-2004. Simrin then moved on to do Sculpture at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London, 2008. She is the recipient of the French Government Scholarship & Artist in Residence Programme 2007-2008. She has also received National Scholarship by the Dept. of Culture, Govt of India, 2004-2006 and Nokia Arts Award Asia Pacific in 2000-2001 besides being granted the Artist-in Residence and scholarship 2000-2001 in Seoul, Korea.

Selected shows and workshops include ‘Anomalies’ curated by Jaishri Abichandani, essay by Shaheen Merali at Rossi & Rossi London, June-Aug 2009; ‘New Asian Promises’ at Design Palais, Palais Bruener, Vienna, Austria with Lukas Feichtner Gallerie Feb-Mar 2009.
