Shilpi Gulati is a film researcher and documentary director, editor. A graduate of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, she is currently pursuing her PhD at the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her body of work largely engages with issues of gender, public space and oral histories of communities in India. In addition to independent films, Qissa e Parsi: The Parsi Story (2014), Dere tun Dilli (2012) and Inside Out (2010), which have been screened and awarded at various prestigious international film festivals, Shilpi has also collaborated with several organisations generating archival, training and research material in the form of films, exhibits and online archives. In the past, she has been a recipient of the Early Career Fellowship by the Jamsetji Tata Trust (2010) and Public Service Broadcasting Trust (2014). Apart from her love for films, Shilpi has been involved with theatre over the last eight years. She is an actor and workshop facilitator with pandies’ theatre – a Delhi based activist group which works on creating theatre with children, women and young adults with a view to articulating trauma and creating self expression. She currently lives and works in New Delhi.
