Alongside their independent practices, they have been working collaboratively since 2007. They have a BFA from National College of Arts, Lahore and a Masters from School of The Art Institute Chicago, where they were studying as a Fulbright Scholars. Their collaborative works as well as independent practices have been shown in Pakistan, India, USA, UK, Dubai, China, Japan, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and Australia. Their work is performance based in nature with a keen interest in the body and the notion of embodiment as a medium and tool for art making.

Artist Statement The mundane reconstructions in our work signal the conditions of our immediate lives. Exploring the subversion of ‘I’, ‘me’ and ‘mine’ in an act of being a variation of ‘self’, our work is about being ‘us’. A constant effort to “be” in a body and express that “being” and in it, lies a stern disapproval to comply with prescribed notions. Reflecting on strategies of presence, embodiment and reciprocity, our work explores situations of exchange and our roles as; a child, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a lover, a woman and an artist from Pakistan. The new body of work negotiates the space in between performative gestures and object making. These interests are being explored through more formal and visual components. Humour, informed by local and cultural narratives, continues to play a central role.
