INSIDE / OUTSIDE: K D Thorton and Surajit Sarkar

INSIDE / OUTSIDE: an interactive digital art project by artists Karen D Thorton (Canada) and Surajit Sarkar (Delhi) .... Central to this artwork was the idea of bringing the inside to the outside / or the outside in. Using fragments of digitally captured life, INSIDE/OUTSIDE employed video images and sound, combing them in ways that brings unexpected visions into gallery art.

Karen was supported by the Canada Council for the Arts for her work in India.

Peers 2006

PEERS is a 4-week residency programme for recent graduates from art colleges across India initiated with support from the India Foundation for the Arts (IFA), which provides an opportunity for exchange and dialogue. The PEERS Program hopes to create a regular forum for experimentation, development, and critique within an alternative educational framework. PEERS 2006 brought together a diverse group of students from across the country onto a common platform that worked to provide an opportunity for open knowledge sharing within the group and the community.

Dilli Dur Ast: A Lens based Workshop in the Walled City of Old Delhi

"Dilli Dur Ast" was an attempt to interrogate/intervene /understand the walled city of Old Delhi. Artists Atul Bhalla, Gigi Scaria and Himanshu Desai lived and worked within the walled city for a month developing individual projects in response to and in some cases, in collaboration with the local community of Old Delhi.

This project was conceived and programmed by Gigi Scaria in collaboration with Atul Bhalla and Himanshu Desai. It was supported by KHOJ and partially supported by Devi Art Foundation.

PEERS 2005 was an exciting platform for Bhupal, Himanshu, Sanhita, Rajesh, Malvika and Rohini and the work on display at the Khoj Studios spoke eloquently of their drive and enthusiasm.

Desire Machine is a multi media collective based in North east India, working with the politics of representation and confictign contexts of the region. The everyday experience of violence that is created out of imposed imagined geographies, pushed into the periphery of the imagination of a nation state.

A sparsely attended Open Studio that showcased some highly meditative compositions that managed to hold themselves together in spite of every rule in the book of equipment abuse being broken. Politics of real time :

Northeast India, an everchanging socio-political space, looking at it as a series of interconnected micro-events.Transforming the content into digital bytes, and making it accessible so that the initiatiation of interactivity in public domain.

Time is measured out in ways analogous to the coming and going of the everyday, exposing the passing of time to a (continuous) present.
