Super Ripples of - Jae Young Park's Khoj presentation
The curator, Jae Young Park,had visited Delhi in December 2006 and was facilitated through by KHOJ to have meetings with ceramic artists in the city and view portfolios of artists from around the country. This is the first time that the Ceramics Biennale has approached India for a cultural dialogue about ceramic traditions on this scale.The subcontinent which is generically called South Asia, will be represented at the “Skin of Asia’ contemporary exhibition with the works of four ceramic artists – Kristine Michael, Ira Chaudhari, P R Daroz and Vineet Kacker. The Indian ceramics will show a range of inspiration – from the rangoli and alpona inspired works in sgraffito of Ira, the Buddhist chorten-like monumental works of Vineet, the warrior headdress vessels and gateways by Daroz, to the floating world of Kristine’s moth and fruit installations. Kristine will also present a key note lecture ‘Traditional and Contemporary Ceramics in South Asia’ at the two-day International Ceramic Forum on April 28/29.
