Khirkee Ki Kahani

Once KHOJ became building based, we felt that we needed to develop a relationship with the community within which we were based. However the community is a disparate one: with low-level income groups on the one hand and middle class (largely artists) on the other. There is a drama school, a professional photography studio, and professional such as an architect and filmmaker’s residence in the neighborhood of KHOJ. There are different religious groupings and further stratification in terms of caste as well.

In October 2004, KHOJ initiated community outreach program. This began with the simple person-to-person mapping of the Khirkee community in the street in which KHOJ is located. Over the past months this has rapidly transformed the relation between Khoj and the community.
