Ideas of Fashion
This residency aim to push the idea of fashion, new approaches of looking at fashion and the contemporary wearable garment to new heights. The foundation of this process will be cross-disciplinary, motivated by political, social and economic realities, yet inspiration will also be drawn from architecture, philosophy, science, history and technology. The residency and its by product will examine the role that fashion plays in shaping one’s everyday realities and their dreams. It will explore the individual and collective processes which occur in the formation of an identity, whilst also looking at self-perception and communication through fashion and clothing. Questions which will arise include, what is the role of perception in fashion? What is at play with the wearable garment? And What is at stake? The history of fashion and its powerful, transformative role in the past and the present will also be researched.
