Rakhi Peswani trained in painting for her BFA and ceramic sculpture in for her MFA, both from the MS University of Baroda. Peswani maintains a continuous interest in the relationship between the human body, its capacity to sustain repetitive techniques and its ability to acquire skills and language. As a series with no first or last elements, her works contemplate craft from an action to a state within continuity, an expansive and evolving language, grounded in an ever‐changing site, the human body.

In 2007, she won the emerging artist award granted by the Foundation of Indian Contemporary Art, preceded by the Inlaks Scholarship for the UNIDEE in residence at Fondazione Pistoletta, Italy. She also received a national merit scholarship from the ministry of culture, Government of India in 2003.

Peswani has participated in several solo shows, including Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi, 2015 and 2009; Guild Art Gallery, Mumbai, 2013; Asia One, Hong Kong International Art Fair with Guild Art Gallery, 2011, among others. Her noteworthy group participations include the Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda, 2018; Khoj Studios, New Delhi, 2018; Aomori Contemporary Arts Centre, Japan, 2017; Korean Cultural Centre, New Delhi, 2016; Srishti Art Gallery, Hyderabad, 2015, to name a few.

Peswani presently serves as visiting faculty at the Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore. She has previously been a visiting associate professor at the School of Culture and Creative Expression, Ambedkar University, Delhi, and has extensive teaching and workshop experiences. She has also participated in several residencies, most recently as the artist-in-residence at the Aomori Contemporary Arts Centre, Japan, in 2017.
