Born in 1963, Manjari Chakravarti received her B.F.A. (1988) and M.F.A. (1990) in an earthly environment of Kala Bhavan, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan with subjects: Printmaking and Art History. Manjaris works fore-mostly are verbiage of thoughts, where the text and forms move beyond their perceptual meanings offering a more challenging and enriching experience in production and perception of meaning. Trained as a printmaker and having experimented with various mediums: etching, pen and ink drawings, paper assemblage, papier mache and recently acrylic on canvas. She almost sculpts in paint to bring out a fantastic texture and three-dimensionality.

She has received several Awards, Scholarships and Fellowships, prominent among which are Junior Fellowship for Outstanding Artists in the Field of Visual Arts, by the Department of Culture, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India. She has held her solo exhibitions at Art Heritage, New Delhi (1994); Galerie 88, Kolkata (1999) and Ecriture at Gandhara Art Gallery, Kolkata (2007) and a long list of her participations in group shows, camps and art events, held in different parts of the country and internationally. Her works are part of several prestigious public and private collections in India, Japan, USA, UK, Germany, France, Czechoslovakia and other countries. She presently works and lives in Santiniketan, West Bengal.
