Isabela Prado was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 1973, where she received her BFA in printmaking (1995) and drawing (1997). In 2006 she concluded her MFA at Indiana University, USA, after which she was a Resident Artist at Ragdale Foundation in Lake Forest, IL. She has been working mainly with video, installations and performances that examine the limits of the body/self, its physicality, spirituality, memory, and the consequences of its existence. Her work involves the viewer in a close dialogue by using references to quotidian and intimate materials, as well as through socially engaging pieces emphasizing the sense of community. Recently, Isabela Prado participated in the residency Shatana International Artist Workshop (Amman, Jordan), and her work has been featured in the Fall 2006 issue of Chicago Art Journal. Isabela’s work has been shown in Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Sao Paulo (Brazil), Detroit MI, Indianapolis IN, Washington DC (USA), and Berlin (Germany).
