Landscape as Evidence: Artist as Witness at Fast Forward Festival, Athens

Saturday 13 May, 4:45 PM at the Onassis Cultural Centre, Athens

Following the staging of Landscape as Evidence: Artist as Witness in April in New Delhi, Radha Mahendru of Khoj, Zuleikha Chaudhari, theatre director, and Norma Alvares, environmental lawyer, will present at the symposium ‘On Homelands and the Stateless as the World Tilts Right’ in Athens. The panel ‘How might artists bear witness?’ will explore how art can fortify jurisprudence and legal mechanisms with truthfulness and function as an integral factor in preserving justice.

The symposium, organized by Creativetime and the Onassis Cultural Centre as part of the Fast Forward Festival, seeks to provide geographically diverse, transdisciplinary, on-the ground accounts of political and aesthetic tactics to effectively mobilize in the face of statelessness, virulent nationalisms, and increasingly precarious livelihoods.

This project is in collaboration with Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, Vienna.
