Flea Market Explorations

After having spent time through the lanes of the older parts of Pune, most of the artists were attracted to the flea markets. The Juna Bazar or the old market which is put up twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, was the place of interest. As is the character of most of these markets, the spaces were filled with a variety of objects of contrasting ranges – from industrial weights to treadmills and exercising cycles, from television sets to gramophones, from sickles and knives to old microwaves.  Not with the intention of procuring something with a specific aim, rummaging through these spaces was to be an experience of its own. Nevertheless some found a few objects, either useful for their working processes, or to be a part of their work or simply as objects which they liked and wanted to possess.
