Outreach

An integral part of all the Khoj Residencies, outreach encompases slide shows and presentations, artist's talks and an Open Studio Day where the artist's practice is open to viewing by the public.

Artists Presentations:

The Peers shared their practice past and present with each other and with an audience of students and artists. It was an exciting evening and a daunting prospect for some of the artist's. The slide presentations were followed by informal discussions and interacts between the audience and the peers.

Community Outreach: Gali Art Project

Nandita, a young artist from the MSU Baroda initiated a community based project in Hauz Khas village, the site of her studio. The project was based entirely around the street children in the area. She took drawing classes for them which eventually lead up to large scale murals on the walls and shutters along the street in the village. Himanshu, Malvika, Sanhita and Rohini made frequent trips to the site and participated in the project over the course of two weeks. For Himamshu whose residency project was a montage of photographs of children and people he met along his wanderings, the Hauz Khas project fed into the final piece.

Open Studio Day:

The Residency period finally came to a close. The artist's sorted out last minute crises and got everything ready for the grand unveiling on the Open Studio Day (Wednesday June 15)

Everyone breathed a huge sigh of relief when D-Day finally came.
The final pieces were complete and the artist's pleased with the results. The Khoj Studios were filled with an audience keen to see the work of the young artist's on display. There was a little post opening party, when a selection of off-beat, arty and very interesting music videos were screened.
