Zariyein uses images and conversations to explore a diversity of lived experiences. It seeks an interaction between people and their spaces/experiences, where people record impressions of their context using photography & audio recordings. Zariyein has been carried out in Khirki, New Delhi (2006), Shillong and villages in the East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya (2007) and in Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand (2008). Zariyein II in the East Khasi Hills explores life around a bus-the lifeline of many villages, while Zariyein III tries to understand what it means when a place ceases to exist. Frame Works Research & Media Collective adopts interdisciplinary practices to explore development issues and social processes. They use varied research techniques and media forms in their work –from ethnography and documentary film to public art and community media. Frame Works comprises Amit Mahanti, Ruchika Negi and Subhashim Goswami. Ruchika Negi has an abiding interest in community-based communication and research. An alumnus of St Stephen’s College, she has undertaken a number of documentations, interactive media exercises, ethnographic and secondary researches. Community participation and media are her areas of interest. She has worked with various adolescent and children’s groups in the field of non-formal alternative education. Subhashim Goswami has done his graduation from Hindu College and his Masters and M.Phil in Sociology from the Delhi School of Economics, specializing in visual representation. He has been working as a consultant/researcher on various research projects and has also assisted media productions with background research and scripts. He has published papers and book reviews on gender and masculinities. |
